As mentioned before, for the single T root blade, the highest stress concentration was at the tang. The tang kept the blade coming out of the rotor disc when the centrifugal force was applied and hence when the tang was broken, the root rim was not tightly installed, and the moment, which was caused by the axial component of the blade force on the root, would have to be transmitted by the root lands.
